Unable to secure a second consecutive win after beating Independence (0-6, 0-4) 63-35 on Sept. 26, the football team (1-5, 1-3) fell to the Emerson Mavericks (4-2, 3-1) 28-7 Friday at Kuykendall Stadium.
The Redhawks’ only points of the night came when senior, quarterback Khi Bunting, connected with senior wide receiver and Washington State commit, Matthew McClain for a two-yard passing touchdown in the second quarter.
Despite the loss, senior, linebacker Ryan Miller has already shifted most of his focus to Thursday’s matchup against Walnut Grove (5-0, 3-0)
“I’m already thinking about our next game,” Miller said. “I’m just putting my focus on winning that next game.”
Head coach Chip Gregory, meanwhile, said that the team can use the outcome of the game to help them reflect on what needs to be improved on.
“We’re going to be fine-tuning our plays, improving our accuracy, and enhancing our defensive strategies,” Gregory said.
