Unable to beat Memorial (3-5, 2-4) after doing so last year, the football team (1-8, 1-6) fell to the Warriors, 31-28, Friday at the Ford Center. Despite maintaining a two-possession lead for much of the game, the Redhawks were unable to stop their opponents from scoring 24 points in the second half. Ten of those points came unanswered in the fourth quarter, including a 31-yard field goal giving Memorial the win as time expired.
“We were two very evenly matched teams,” assistant coach Anthony Lopez said. “But it was one of those games where the team who makes fewer mistakes wins, and in this case that was them.”
Senior, offensive lineman, Ryan Miller said he was frustrated by the outcome of the game.
“It was a very winnable game for us,” Miller said. “We had the opportunity to win and we didn’t. But we stayed disciplined and motivated and had fun.”
