A new movie complex a little more than two miles from campus is opening up in a few days, but some people are getting a sneak peek as part of a charity event.

The theatre is scheduled to open later this week but Moviehouse & Eatery will be hosting a fundraiser event for Hope’s Door and Junior League of Collin County tonight from 6 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $25 with the money going towards a variety of programs.

“Hope’s Door is a domestic violence center, we focus on prevention and education and services for victims of domestic violence,” Hope’s Door Director of Development Beth Robinson said. “Hope’s Door will use the proceeds from that event and other events to fund our programs, sometimes they go to general operating expenses like buying food for the shelter. Sometimes they will go to a specific program whether related to children or adults.”

Among the movies being shown are classics such as Top Gun and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Moviehouse & Eatery is located in McKinney along 121 by Lowe’s between Custer and Exchange Parkway.
