Wingspan: When and how did you discover your talent?

Gordon: “I can’t remember a time I specifically found my talent, but it was probably in elementary school when I auditioned and made it into the All-City choir.”

Wingspan: What got you into singing?

Gordon: “What got me into singing was my family, music is a big part of our lives and we sing/play instruments/listen to music all the time.”

Wingspan: How has choir changed your life?

Gordon: “Choir has opened up many opportunities in my life that I didn’t think was possible. I’ve gotten to meet so many people who enjoy the same things I do and I get to participate in competitions to showcase my talent.”

Wingspan: How does your family support your singing?

Gordon: “My family has been very supportive of my singing, they always attend my concerts and performances and they encourage me to practice and become the best I can be.”

Wingspan: How do you handle mistakes during a performance?

Gordon: “When I make mistakes I get a little frustrated but I usually use that to push myself and make my performance even better. I use it as constructive criticism to improve.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite genre to sing?

Gordon: “My favorite genre to sing, although it sounds weird, is probably classical music. I don’t really know how to explain it, I guess it’s kind of operatic. It really gives someone a chance to showcase their voice and it has really high notes.”

Wingspan: Do you plan on pursuing this as a career?

Gordon: “I’ve thought about pursuing music as a career but I’m not quite sure. I think it would be really fun though because I would be able to continue to do things I love.”

Wingspan: Have you ever thought about writing your own songs?

Gordon: “Yes, but I’m not the best at composition.”

Wingspan: When you aren’t singing, what are you doing?

Gordon: “When I’m not singing I’m usually playing volleyball, working or hanging out with my friends/family.”

Wingspan: Who motivates you the most?

Gordon: “My mom definitely motivates me the most, she is always supporting me and pushing me to become and better singer and performer.”
