Wingspan: What made you choose the cello?
Kim: “I’ve always loved music and decided that the cello was the right instrument for me. It had the capability to hit low and high notes.”
Wingspan: When did you learn of your interest in the cello?
Kim: “After I learned guitar and drums I thought it was time to start a classical instrument.”
Wingspan: When did you discover your talent? How has that changed you?
Kim: “I discovered it when I was capable of just watching other and transcribing music in my head instantly for multiple instruments.”
Wingspan: How do you prepare for a concert?
Kim: “I prepare by practicing music from memory.”
Wingspan: How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
Kim: “I handle mistakes by keep going. If you stop from a mistake then it only makes it so much more obvious.”
Wingspan: Are you considering this as a career?
Kim: “I would love to be doing anything music related for my career. However, my parents want me to do something in the medical field.”
Wingspan: What’s been your favorite memory in orchestra?
Kim: “My favorite memory from orchestra was when we went to Disney.”
Wingspan: If you had to pick another instrument to play, what would it be? Why?
Kim: “I would pick the viola. It is an underrated instrument that is quite similar to the cello.”
Wingspan: How do you balance orchestra and your extracurriculars?
Kim: “I balance everything by choosing to practice before I do schoolwork since it’s better to get practice over with first.”
