Wingspan: What made you choose theater?
Borja-Prieto: “I chose theater because I thought it was really cool how people in the action movies looked really fancy and they always drove really cool cars. I was like oh I’m gonna be an actor so that they can give me a car when I’m in a movie. Then I realized that I don’t want to act and film and I want to perform on stage.”
Wingspan: How does has it affected your life?
Borja-Prieto: “Theater has affected my life because it’s my favorite thing to do. I like to study it and learn a lot about it. I really don’t like to be in any other class.”
Wingspan: What’s been your favorite memory?
Borja-Prieto: “My favorite memory in theater is probably in rehearsal when I was looking at all the actors on stage and I was on the side of it. I just dropped on the floor, it was a really fun moment when I fell off the stage.”
Wingspan: What’s been your favorite show? Why?
Borja-Prieto: “My favorite show has probably been Little Women, It was a lot of fun to do. It was my first time getting to do a bit more on stage and in a musical.”
Wingspan: How do you prepare for a show?
Borja-Prieto: “I prepare for a show by memorizing my lines like any other actor.”
Wingspan: Do you see theater as a way to express yourself?
Borja-Prieto: “Of course. I love to sing, dance, act, and especially perform for an audience. I can’t think of any other way to do it better.”
Wingspan: Are you considering to pursue it as a career? Why or why not?
Borja-Prieto: “Theater is the only thing that I’m considering for my career. It’s my favorite thing to do, and it makes me happy. It’s not always the most stable decision, but if I don’t become an actor, I’ll definitely teach.”
Wingspan: How do you handle your mistakes during a performance?
Borja-Prieto: “When mistakes happen, you have to keep going. I will rely on my improv skills to move along and try not to sweat it.”
Wingspan: How do you balance theater and your other extracurriculars?
Borja-Prieto: “I don’t. Sometimes it’s a mess and other times it works itself out. It’s worth it I think.”
Wingspan: What is your advice for anyone else who wants to pursue anything in the arts?
Borja-Prieto: “They just need to take a deep breath. I think that they just need to be ready for everything, be ready for a yes, be ready for a no, be ready for a change in the plans, be ready to get there and do something entirely different. I guess be ready for whatever it will throw at you.”
