In this weeks culinary crusade, staff reporter Kanz Bitar made whipped coffee that has been trending online.
Whipped coffee lives up to the hype
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love coffee. A few weeks ago there was this trend on TikTok on how to make whipped coffee and everyone was making it and I finally got around to doing it.
In a bowl you put 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, 2 teaspoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of hot water and mix with either a fork or an electric hand mixer. The first time I did this I did it was just a fork, and it was the worst thing ever. I thought my arm was gonna fall off, so now I just do it with an electric mixer. After you have it all mixed, get a cup and pour in whatever type of milk you prefer, I just chose whole milk. You can also put in ice cubes, but I prefer it without any. After you pour in your milk and add the whipped coffee, you mix it and you’re done.
This was literally one of the best coffee I’ve ever had. All week I’ve just been making it this way because it’s so good. The fluff mixed so well with the milk, and the measurements were perfect. I thought I would need more sugar, but it tasted great just the way it was.
I’ve only ever made warm coffee at home and I usually just order cold coffee whenever I go out like to Starbucks. Now that I know this technique, I’m always gonna do it.
Olive Garden delights at steep price
In this week’s culinary crusade, staff reporter Kanz Bitar visited Olive Garden for the first time, selecting Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara.
For this weeks’ crusade I went to Olive Garden, which used to be a restaurant that got a lot of hype, but over the past few years I’ve barely heard of. Since I’ve never eaten there, I decided to go to see why people love it so much or do not.
I ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara. It was really creamy which I loved. The shrimp was soft and crispy. The chicken was ok; there wasn’t anything to it really. However, the whole meal overall was really good. Even though I wasn’t able to finish it, I ate my leftovers the next day and I think it tasted even better the second day.
As for their famous breadsticks, they were amazing. They were soft and salty and buttery, so tasty.
The food was good and the restaurant was nice, but the food was more expensive than I thought it would be. I spent about $26 on my meal. But it was probably just what I got, I’m sure there are cheaper orders. For that reason I will go back and try some of the other dishes they offer.
