Wingspan: What is your favorite thing to draw?

Atchley: “Oh man, just about anything. I especially enjoy drawing Teeth/Maws, wings, and eyes. I find them so pleasing to draw and they always look so pretty. I also love designing my own original characters, or pre-existing characters from popular media.”

Wingspan: What made you want to choose to do art?

Atchley: “The idea of having limitless possibilities when it comes to your art sounds so appealing, so of course I wanted to give it a try. Finishing a piece is always so satisfying, and showing what you made off to your friends is great.”

Wingspan: How does art impact your daily life?

Atchley: “Oh boy. Art impacts just about everything in my daily life. I use it to cope, or I just doodle when I’m bored. I can often catch myself daydreaming about what I’m going to draw next, or ideas for my original characters.”

Wingspan: Are you considering continuing art beyond high school? Why?

Atchley: “Heck yeah I am! I’m planning on making a career out of it, even! Getting paid to draw pretty much anything sounds so fun.”

Wingspan: What are your personal goals for this year?

Atchley: “One thing I’d like to accomplish with my art is improving on my dynamic poses and anatomy; there’s always room for improvement when it comes to art.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite thing about art?

Atchley: “The infinite potentiality of it all! Your imagination is the limit, and anything is possible when it comes to art.”

Wingspan: Do you draw a lot in your free time?

Atchley: “Totally! I love doing art whenever I can. I have a whole art setup at my house! I have a drafting table and art lamp.”

Wingspan: What’s your favorite memory of art?

Atchley: “I’d have to say my favorite memory of art is finally finding my medium and style. I remember I used to work with watercolors and anthropomorphic animal characters, and now I work with alcohol-based markers and complex humanoids.”

Wingspan: What is your advice to anybody thinking about joining art?

Atchley: “Anybody can draw. All you need is a writing utensil, some kind of paper, and imagination. Every single artist starts from somewhere, and we were all terrible at art when we first began to draw. You have to learn through experience and perseverance, and when you keep continuing to draw, your efforts will definitely pay off. You will improve with time as long as you keep going.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite thing you have done in art?

Atchley: “Stepping out of my artistic comfort zone! I’m most used to non-human characters standing in front of blank backgrounds, so drawing things such as humans or landscapes is always a fun challenge.”
