Favorite places to eat with allergies/dietary restrictions

Shreya Agrawal

Although eating out with dietary restrictions can be difficult, there are still great options available! Staff reporter Shreya Agrawal shares her top five favorite places to eat in the DFW area. (Pictured: Amorino gelato shop located in Legacy West)

Eating out is a special part of social life, from meeting old friends to attending important events. These are my top five places to enjoy meals and dessert in the DFW area.

  1. True Food Kitchen: My favorite meals from there are the Korean noodles and the vegan and gluten free butternut squash pizza. True Food’s vegan ricotta is also really tasty. All of their menu items have allergens listed, making it easy for people with allergies.
  2. Malgudi Gardens: Malgudi Gardens is a vegetarian restaurant with lots of traditional Indian options. They also offer vegan and gluten free options and have lots of different options on their a la carte and buffet menu. I enjoy eating their mysore masala dosa and sambar idli there.
  3. Unrefined Bakery: Unrefined bakery is a fully gluten-free bakery with lots of vegan options, from strawberry cupcakes to cakes. They also have special cupcakes of the week, along with lots of cookies. I love the strawberry cupcakes and loaded monkey muffins from there.
  4. Amorino: Amorino is a gelato shop located in Legacy West that has lots of vegan sorbet options. Their sorbets are created from fruit grown across the world, such as Alphonso mangoes from India to Syracuse Lemons. Also, they do not use artificial preservatives either, adding to the authentic flavor of their gelato and sorbet.
  5. Chipotle: Chipotle is an amazing option for people with allergies as they offer both vegan and gluten free burrito bowl options, along with offering cauliflower rice as a grain-free option. It’s also fast-serve, flavorful, and cost-effective.
