The healthy habit of yoga

Yoga, originating in India, is a form of meditation which involves moving your body into various positions to build strength and focus in the mind as well as the body. There are many different poses and styles of this ancient practice.

A popular yoga pose is the downward dog. It consists of leaning forward and putting your hands on the floor in front of you so your body is in a sort of mountain pose. The only place your body is bending is at your hips. Another easy pose is the warrior. In this pose, you need to keep your hips facing forward and move one leg back so that you are in a lunge with your back leg straight and front leg bent. Then simply raise your arms above your head, and that’s it!

When most people think of yoga, they think of the poses described above, however, yoga is so much more than that. Yoga also incudes breathing exercises, pranayama techniques, and more. A popular breathing exercise is alternate nostril breathing. This is pretty self explanatory, you need to inhale through your left nostril while holding your right nostril closed with your thumb. Then switch nostrils and exhale through your right nostril.

Some benefits of all the types of yoga are, muscle relaxation, increased energy, less anxiety and stress, and stabilized blood pressure. I highly recommend it for a healthier lifestyle overall.
