Coming back the day after Thanksgiving break the golf team competes in the Redhawks Shootout. The team has not practiced in over a week, due to the holidays, so they look to preform the best they can.

Sophomore Rakhi Shah might be one of the youngest members of the girls varsity golf team, but her golf skills and team support are on par with every other golf player.

“I have been playing golf since around middle school,” Shah said. “My parents put me in summer camp and I just liked it from there.”

For Shah, constant practices and gradual improvement in her plays have helped her strengthen her mental capabilities, allowing her to become a better player.

“It helped me with my patience and thinking and planning all my shots and knowing what I’m going to do,” Shah said. “Golf takes a lot of time but it’s worth it when it helps you.”

Shah plans to keep pursuing golf after high school, but for now she is focused on playing for the school team.

“I’ll probably play for recreation, not competitively,” Shah said. “It’s something I want to keep doing.”

Being a part of the team is a great way for Shah to provide support and feedback and get advice and counselling back from her teammates.

“I like being a part of the team,” Shah said. “Just supporting the girls and having a ton of support and supporting each other is so important.”
