Review: Not your mainstream bistro
December 2, 2016
Mainstreet Bistro, an authentic, simplistic, and wholesome establishment, encapsulates the very essence of home cooking. Located in the Shops at Legacy, the restaurant focuses on preparing only the best in quality French dishes. The very moment you enter, a warm, familiar, and slightly quaint atmosphere greets you at the door.
From the smell of freshly kneaded and baked breads, to the slow simmering of French onion soup, Mainstreet Bistro will accentuate on all things original.
Initially a small and relatively new type of business, the Bistro was just the start of success during the 19th century in France. Acclaimed for its flavourful and traditional food, Mainstreet Bistro began gaining traction not only in France, but in all of Europe, eventually making it’s way into the U.S. as a mainstream franchise.
This powerhouse of French specialties then made it’s way to the States allowing Americans to feel as if they were in France enjoying say a soup du jour with a decadent panini sandwich.
Aside from the delightfully charming French atmosphere, the food itself is marvelous. I myself enjoyed a steaming bowl of French Onion soup which is bowl with a punch of sour yet familiar flavour, garnished with white onion and cilantro. In addition one can splendor in all of France’s sophisticated flavours the bistro has to offer such as a quiche lorraine, crepe bistro, tomato basil bisque, and just an old fashioned smoked Atlantic salmon.
Now don’t get this restraunt confused with just any bistro, this place sells pastries, breads, and more to the public as if they were your own neighbourhood bakery. The wholesale process is simple thanks to the friendly and hospitable employees, who have no issue making you feel welcomed in this old fashioned restaurant. You simply consult one of the employees operating behind the bakery counter and let them know what kind of pastry or bread you want and the quantity. Most appreciate this convenience as it is helpful to the fast paced lifestyles that many are accustomed to and provides them with quick and easy meals on the go.
A visit to this bistro is always something to remember. Whether it is the people, the service, or most importantly the delicious food, Mainstreet Bistro is a promising place to spend your hard earned money and most are just a couple of miles away from exquisite French cuisine.
