For the first time in 10 years, a boys’ golf team advanced to the regional tournament with the Red squad scoring a second place finish in the District 13-5A tournament on Monday in Tuesday at The Bridges Golf Club in Gunter.

“Some of the guys really put in some time on their own with their short game,” head coach Shannon Glidwell said. “It showed at the end when we needed their clutch performances.

The Red team placed 2nd with 640 to take the second of two spots to regionals, with the Black team taking 7th with 665.

“I felt that all of the guys played hard, and for the most part we played smartly, especially at the end,” Glidwell said. “Some of the guys made some really clutch shots on the last few holes to pick up the rest of the team.”

The team also scored one individual honor with junior Cole Enlow placing 8th and making 2nd team All-District.

“My goal was to win districts I didn’t win but still placed and got top 10 individually,” Enlow said. “We are preparing for regionals the same way as districts just keep working hard and get a feel for the course.”
