Wingspan: What made you chose theater?

Miller: “I always liked to read and I thought it would be cool to make a story come to life on stage.”

Wingspan: How does theater affect your life?

Miller: “Theater has allowed me to meet so many people that I now consider my closest friends and family.”

Wingspan: What’s been your favorite memory in theater?

Miller: “My favorite memories are from rehearsing with my friends.”

Wingspan: What’s been your favorite show? Why?

Miller: “My favorite show that I’ve been in would have to be my first show ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.’ I love this show because it was the first show I ever did and I have so many great memories with all my friends from rehearsals and performing that show.”

Wingspan: How do you prepare for a show?

Miller: “I prepare for a show by warming up with my cast mates and telling everyone to ‘break a leg.’

Wingspan: Do you see theater a way to express yourself?

Miller: “I see theater as an escape from your life and jump into somebody else’s for a moment. It really allows you to see yourself from a different perspective.”

Wingspan: Are you considering theater as a career? Why or why not?

Miller: “I am not considering theater as a career because it’s always been more of a hobby for me and I’m really interested in veterinary medicine as my career.”

Wingspan: How do you handle your mistakes during a performance?

Miller: “Making mistakes during a performance is completely normal and happens a lot. I always just think to myself that performing is really about how you deal with these mistakes on stage without letting the audience notice.  And I always learn from my mistakes I make and try not to make them again.”

Wingspan: How do you balance theater and your other extracurriculars?

Miller: “Balancing theater and other extracurriculars is really hard, especially when it gets close to opening night, but it’s always about time management. If I have some down time in rehearsals, I’ll work on something for another class or club. I always try to do all my work as soon as i get it so it doesn’t pile up at the end.”

Wingspan: What are your goals for the upcoming school year in theater?

Miller: “This year in theater I really want to work on expanding my skills in musical theater. I’m performing a musical piece for our state competition and I am playing a lead role in this year’s musical so I can reach my goal.”
