Katie Stoker is a sophomore on the girls’ varsity soccer team

Wingspan: How long have you been playing soccer?

Stoker: “I’ve been playing soccer since I was three, so about 13 years. My family was really into soccer and my sister got really into it, so they put me into soccer.”

Wingspan: What fuels your passion to play?

Stoker: “I’ve been playing my whole life and so just getting better everyday and trying to get to that next level. I just enjoy it.”

Wingspan: What made you choose soccer as your sport?

Stoker: “My sister and I are really close and she’s into soccer too.”

Wingspan: Who in your life inspires you to succeed?

Stoker: “My parents are both really successful and my sister has been really successful as well as my brother. Just my whole family.

Wingspan: What is your biggest and proudest accomplishment so far?

Stoker: “The last team I was on we won a D1 soccer championship. I’m on a club team called Sting.”

Wingspan: What are the thoughts going through your head during a game?

Stoker: “Just to work hard and to put your team in front of yourself. Forget about any of the mistakes you’ve made and stay focused to win.”

Wingspan: What makes you energetic and pumps you up?

Stoker: “Music and being around my teammates. I just put my earphones in and focus there.”

Wingspan: What is something you struggle with?

Stoker: “Probably just mental toughness and just continuing even though you want to quit.”

Wingspan: What are your expectations for this season?

Stoker: “I expect good things. I’m really excited about this team and we’ve been preparing for season for the last couple of months. I think it will be really cool to see how it will all play out.”
