Wingspan: What made you choose the trombone?
Buss: “My dad played it and a lot of people throughout my family play the trombone and I thought it would be really cool and I was in 6th grade trying out the trombone and other instruments.”
Wingspan: When did you learn of your interest in music? Has your talent that changed you?
Buss: “I just remember from like a young age I really liked music in general and I wanted to be involved in it in some way. Not really I just know that to get where I want to go I have to use hard work and not just my talent to get there.”
Wingspan: How do you prepare for a concert?
Buss: “Just a lot of practice of what I need to know in the song.”
Wingspan: How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
Buss: “After they happen I ignore them and focus on what I need to and I just live on with the mistake because it usually causes more mistakes.”
Wingspan: How does band affect your everyday life?
Buss: “It’s a lot of extra work you have to put into it but most of the time it pays off.”
Wingspan: Do you view music as a way to express yourself? Why or why not?
Buss: “Yes, definitely, what you play and how you play expresses what you’re into.”
Wingspan: What’s been your favorite memory in band?
Buss: “In 8th grade, we went on a trip and it snowed really hard and we were just out of school for like a whole day.”
Wingspan: If you had to pick another instrument to play, what would it be? Why?
Buss: “Trumpet mainly because a lot of friends play it and it seems really fun.”
Wingspan: How do you balance band and your extracurriculars?
Buss: “I try to focus on my classes and then the stuff I do in band. Mostly it’s just knowing what to do and when to do it.”
