Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) volunteer hours are due by Monday for seniors who wish to have a cord at graduation.

“Mu Alpha Theta is a math-based service organization,” Mu Alpha Theta president Noah Rose. “We help connect high-achieving math students with people who need a little bit of peer tutoring.”

A minimum of 5 hours are required in order to receive the cord for their membership.

“Our main job here at Liberty is to promote math and to allow students who really enjoy math to have a place to meet other students who enjoy math,” Mu Alpha Theta sponsor Jennifer Rumery said. “We sponsor the American Math Competition and Pi Day.”

The purpose of Mu Alpha Theta involvement is to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.

“I’ve been a member for a year,” senior Haden Bennet said. “My favorite part of it is Pi Day.”
