All natural foods to give you energy
September 14, 2018
Homework, sports, clubs and work can all be pretty draining, and although Monster and Red Bull may give students a sudden rush of energy, the extreme amounts of sugar and chemicals don’t guarantee a lasting effect. So instead, here are a couple alternative options that leave you with the same results, but without all the negative side effects.
Bananas: Bananas are a great source of carbohydrates, potassium and Vitamin B6, all of which are great all natural energy boosters for the body. In a study done in 2012, the results showed that athletes who consumed a banana before cycling 75 kilometers had the same results as those who consumed a sugary, chemical filled energy drink.
Dark chocolate: With the high levels of cacao in dark chocolate, it is seen as an excellent all natural energy boost. Raw cacao releases endorphins, which increase mental energy and improves mood. In addition, cacao is an excellent source of magnesium, which aids in preventing fatigue, anxiety, and irritability.
Green tea: Similar to coffee, green tea contains caffeine, which increases energy. Aside from studies that show how it improves brain function, lower risks of cancer, and protects the brain by lowering risks of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, green tea increases the breakdown of fats and releases norepinephrine. This is makes it a great energy booster for physical activity.
