Portraits decorate the halls
January 30, 2019
Walking down the main hallway from the cafeteria to the auditorium, students and staff often pass the works of art students showcased in the display cases.
The most recent work on display is pastel based with a personal viewpoint.
“We started the portrait project to learn about how to use pastels to create a portrait likeness of a family member or of the artists themselves,” art teacher Pernie Fallon said. “The students have done an incredible job. We have learned how to do gridding to get the proportions right and how to use mark making which is what AP drawing is all about.”
For the students that have their work on display, it’s an exciting opportunity and an inspiration to continue their work.
“I think it’s cool that we get to display our art at school, because I like seeing what other people do and getting inspired by that,” senior Emma Krilowicz said. “I think my main inspiration for my art piece was the fact that I wanted to work on different kinds of lighting so I decided to go with the string lights and see what I can do with that.”
