Avery Sutera

Name: Avery Sutera

Grade: 10

Future college: Undecided

Wingspan: What got you into art?

Sutera: “I’ve always enjoyed drawing and creating.”

Wingspan: Do you plan on doing it as a career?

Sutera: “I’ve considered it, but I would have to improve exponentially. I need to focus more on it as a subject and finish more projects.”

Wingspan: What are your favorite things to draw?

Sutera: “Mostly people, as well as birds. I like how complex they are.”

Wingspan: How long have you been drawing?

Sutera: “For four years seriously.”

Wingspan: How do you express yourself through art?

Sutera: “It helps release emotions and calm me. Drawing is a way to show how I feel, so doodling can help me take stress off from school.”

Wingspan: Do you think you will be drawing even after high school?

Sutera: “Yes, I love to create things. Although I love it, I wouldn’t consider it as a full time career.”

Wingspan: Will you be going to an art college?

Sutera: “I don’t think so.”

Wingspan: How has art changed your perspective on the world?

Sutera: “I see smaller details when I look around, trying to figure out how I’d draw it. It helps me focus on the little things and try to understand how specific things work rather than taking it at a surface level.”

Wingspan: Do you have any tips for those starting off with art?

Sutera: “Use references and try to figure out how things work. By using pictures and real life models, you can gain a better understanding of how objects and people move, then use that for your artwork.”
