In this week’s culinary crusade, staff reporter Kanz Bitar headed to her own kitchen to prepare fried cauliflower.

Fried cauliflower elevates healthy snack

One vegetable that I consider my ultimate favorite is cauliflower. I love snacking on it all the time. I usually eat it raw cause that’s how I prefer it, but I wanted to try it differently so I decided to fry it.

The mixture that I dipped the cauliflower in before frying it was eggs, flour, corn starch, salt, black pepper, garlic, paprika, cilantro and water. Then I decided to make a second mixture that included all of these ingredients with the addition of turmeric.

They turned out perfectly, I really liked them. They were crispy from the outside and soft on the inside, the textures blended together perfectly. I was honestly a little surprised mainly because I had my doubts because I was sure that I messed up the mixture, but it actually turned out great.

This turned out better than I thought. Even though I am going to stick with eating them raw, now I know I can eat them differently from time to time.
