Wingspan: What made you choose the trumpet?
George: “It only has 3 buttons on in and it wasn’t huge.”
Wingspan: What made you want to choose to do a band?
George: “I chose art first because it was easy and I wouldn’t have gotten home work, but after class I decided to switch to band and asked my teacher to change it because of the field trips and I wanted to be a part of something besides soccer.”
Wingspan: How does band impact your daily life?
George: “It impacts me because I have put in time and work for after school practice and just practicing and getting better at my instrument.”
Wingspan: Are you considering continuing to band beyond? Why?
George: “It depends if I’m good enough to do it in college.”
Wingspan: What are your personal goals for this year?
George: “To do well in school, move up in band, and try out for soccer.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite thing about marching band?
George: “The people because there are a lot of funny moments that happen in band.”
Wingspan: How do you balance band, school, and any other extracurriculars?
George: “I just plan ahead and try to get my work down and study on time, because I have to put so much time into practicing”
Wingspan: What’s your favorite memory of the band?
George: “There are too many but one of them is hanging out with the other trumpets on the band bus last year after UIL.”
Wingspan: What is your advice to anybody thinking about joining the band?
George: “They should definitely do it and pick the trumpet.”
Wingspan: If you had to pick a different instrument to play what would it be?
George: “When I was trying out every instrument in 5th grade the teacher said I was really good at bassoon or oboe and I thought saxophones sounded cool but I would probably pick the trombone because I think it would be really cool and fun to play.”
