Mia Tremmel

Senior theatre student and lead in December’s Bright Star musical Mia Tremmel has had a passion for the stage. A decade after the start of her acting career, Tremmel is still an active participant in in-school theatre, as well as outside of school.

Mia Tremmel

Name: Mia Tremmel

Grade: 11th Grade

Future College: N/A

Future Job: Musical Theatre Performer/Educator

Years in Choir: 3

Inspiration: Some of my teachers, Ms. Kellie, Mrs. Erica, and Ms. Ugolini!

Wingspan:How do you prepare for a performance?

Tremmel: Well Ms. U teaches us all of the music after giving us our voice parts, and it is really just learning the notes, words, pronunciations and dynamics, before memorizing, then performing.

Wingspan:What made you want to choose to do choir?

Tremmel: I love singing, and since I want to do musical theatre in the future, I thought that choir would help me in that field. But I stayed because I fell in love with the beautiful music we perform. Also Ms. Ugolini is my favorite teacher.

Wingspan:How does choir impact your daily life?

Tremmel: I practice at least a little bit every day, and a lot of what I learn in choir helps me with my theatre work, so I use it quite a bit.

Wingspan:Are you considering continuing choir beyond high school? Why?

Tremmel: Possibly, I do know that I want to focus my time in the musical theatre field but choir is extremely fun!

Wingspan:What are your personal goals for this year?

Tremmel: At this point just to get through and finish it, COVID-19 has been hard for a lot of people. And hopefully with vaccines starting to roll out things will get better before next school year starts.

Wingspan:What is your favorite thing about choir?

Tremmel: For virtual, the music, I enjoy the music a lot of the time. And for in person, the fun events, we got to sing national anthems places, have parties, do Coffee House, it was a lot of fun.

Wingspan:How do you balance choir, school, and any other extracurriculars?

Tremmel: This year I do happen to be virtual, so it is just another one of my virtual classes. But last year when I was in person, there weren’t that many outside of school commitments when it came to choir.

Wingspan:What’s your favorite memory of choir?

Tremmel: I think Coffee House last year, it was so much fun! All of the songs were themes, and I got to hang out with my choir friends, and some theatre friends who came to watch it.

Wingspan:What is your advice to anybody thinking about joining choir?

Tremmel: Just do it! I know it can be intimidating especially in an elective having to do with how good someone’s voice is. But it is so much fun, and everyone I have met is super kind and welcoming.

Wingspan:What is your favorite thing you have done in choir?

Tremmel: It technically hasn’t happened yet, but I mentioned that I love musical theatre, and our spring concert this year is Broadway themed! And I think it will be my favorite.
