Wingspan: How did you get started in soccer?
Alston: “I started at age 5, it was the first sport I picked up and it just became something I liked.”
Wingspan: Who has been your biggest motivator?
Alston: “My parents have always motivated me to be the best and I don’t know where I would be without them.”
Wingspan: How has playing soccer impacted your life?
Alston: “I’ve made a lot of long lasting relationships with friends and without them or the sport I wouldn’t be the same.”
Wingspan: Since our boys soccer team was pretty good last year, how do you feel like the pressure of upholding this makes you and your team feel?
Alston: “Last year we were really good and now we lost 18 seniors so it’s really difficult to keep that same form up, but that’s the point of practicing so we hope to create the same success from last year.”
Wingspan: How is playing soccer here different from playing on Solar?
Alston: “Playing club and playing at liberty are pretty different because I don’t get to see the people on my club team as much as I see my liberty teammates so I’m much closer with them.”
Wingspan: How do you manage to train daily and keep up with school?
Alston: “It’s difficult. It’s something that has to be done tho. I have a schedule so for like an hour a day I do all my homework then I have practice the rest of the day.”
Wingspan: What are you most excited for this season?
Alston: “Probably winning because it’s fun to win and we did that alot last year.”
Wingspan: What is the hardest part about playing soccer?
Alston: “It’s really draining mentally because it’s hard to do the same thing over and over and keep a smile on your face everyday.”
Wingspan: Do you have any pre game rituals or superstitions?
Alston: “I go to RaceTrac and get a slurpee before every game.”
Wingspan: Who is the sports icon that has influenced you the most?
Alston: “Toreek Arowolo because he has always pushed me to the limits and I feel I wouldn’t be the same without him.”
