Wingspan: What made you choose your instrument?

“The day we had instrument tryout, I remember I really wanted to play the saxophone. When I tried out the trombone though, I made the loudest sound, and everyone in the room looked at me, and I decided that loud was fun and that trombone was the choice for me.”

Wingspan: What made you want to join band?

“My sister was in band before me, and my friends were going to join as well. I wanted to be in an organization that I could be with my friends in.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite memory in band?

“My favorite memory in band was probably my first competition in freshman year, where after we performed my section stayed on the bus and told stories. It’s stuck with me for a long time.”

Wingspan: Are you considering continuing your instrument beyond high school? Why?

“I don’t expect to play much trombone after high school, I love music, but listening to it is more fun than playing it.”

Wingspan: How does music impact your life?

“Music always makes for good memories, I can always remember a memory better when I can picture the music playing in the background.”

Wingspan: What life lessons has band/playing your instrument taught you?

“More than anything, band has taught me to go out of your comfort zone and do the best for the people around you.”
