Featured Athlete: Davion Furgeson
Wingspan: Today we’re here with junior sprinter and long jumper, Davion Furgeson. Davion, tell us about your love for track and what got you here.
Furgeson: “I started track when I was really young, to just burn off energy and have something to do. When I got to middle school I really started to take it more seriously.”
Wingspan: What made you choose to fully commit to track over other sports?
Furgeson: “When I started running track in the summer it made me want to be serious about it, it definitely prepared me for the competition that I would face in high school.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite race to run?
Furgeson: “Definitely the 4×1 relay. I like to run it the most because of the team aspect. I get to do it with my friends so that’s always fun.”
Wingspan: What has been different running track here at Liberty versus running in the summer?
Furgeson: “At Liberty I get to run and go to meets with my friends. It’s good bonding time; in the summer, it’s strictly about getting better.”
Wingspan: What are you looking forward to going into your last year of high school track?
Furgeson: “I’m really looking forward to getting better and of course looking at college programs for the future!”
