Wingspan: Why did you decide you wanted to do Special Olympics?

Rebollar: “I just like being around my friends and it’s the only sports program I actually wanted to be a part of because we get to do more than one sport.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite event to participate in?

Rebollar: “I like doing basketball because it’s the most fun and it doesn’t get boring like some of the other events.”

Wingspan: How do you get ready to compete?

Rebollar: “We practice during class sometimes and I try to get a good night’s sleep before.”

Wingspan: What is your best event?

Rebollar: “My best event is basketball because I have practiced it the most.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite memory from Special Olympics?

Rebollar: “After the competition we got to eat popsicles together and meet new friends.”

Wingspan: If you could put any event in Special Olympics what would it be?

Rebollar: “I would put volleyball in, even though it’s a little hard. Volleyball is my favorite sport.”

Wingspan: How has competing in Special Olympics impacted you and your classmates?

Rebollar: “It makes us feel happy that get to win awards, and taught us that we can be winners no matter what.”
