Halloween is less than a week away, and if you are in need of a last minute costume idea, there are so many things you can do with things you probably already have in your closet. Creating a costume yourself can be so fun, so I put together a guide to nine last minute creative and cute Halloween costumes.
Gingerbread Man
This is such an easy DIY costume, plus it is so comfortable. All you need is a brown sweatshirt, some pink fabric to cut circles out as buttons, and some ribbon for your hair. I found ribbon at Hobby Lobby and just used an assortment of pink, red, and white. If you want to go the extra mile, you can add white ruffle ribbon to the edges of the sweatshirt, and get a little lollipop prop. Any shoes and pants work with this outfit, but I love black biker shorts and Ultra Mini UGGs (they just look like gingerbread feet)!
Girl Scout
This is one of my favorite last minute costumes! All you need is a yellow top with a brown skirt for the base, and then the accessories come in a pack on Amazon. The sash could also be made with some fabric, and a generic yellow hat and orange scarf could be purchased instead. This costume is creative and cute.
Sailor
For this costume, you just need a white base. I chose a white tank top and a white skirt. The accessories are from Amazon again (Amazon is a great place to get quick accessories). The main things you need are the hat and the scarf. This costume is easily recognizable with not a lot going on!
Parent Trap Twins
I am obsessed with this costume, and it is perfect to do with a friend. Dressing up like the twins from The Parent Trap, Hallie and Annie, is pretty simple. You can find a white shirt with a green trim, along with some green cotton shorts. A headband can be worn for the person dressing up as Annie, and both girls can wear tennis shoes (since this costume is them at summer camp). Ankle socks are also cute with the tennis shoes for this costume.
Padme
If you are a Star Wars fan then this is the perfect costume for you! This is also a great costume to go with someone dressing up as Anakin. This costume resembles one of her iconic outfits, and most of the pieces are pretty simple. A long sleeve white turtleneck (one side can be cut to be more accurate), white leggings, cream belt bag, white boots, and some kind of cream shawl are the main parts of the costume. Silver arm cuffs are part of her outfit, but duct tape around the arms can easily replace this.
Little Bo Peep
This is a great costume to wear if you have someone dressing up as Woody from Toy Story, but it is also so cute as a solo costume. You just need a blue shirt along with a white skirt. You can add pink polka dots with fabric (similar to the gingerbread dots), and pink ribbon in your hair. The staff is probably something you will need to buy on Amazon, but I am also sure it could be DIY’d if you are creative enough!
Masters Golf Caddie
This costume is very unique, and if you have a white romper already then you can just buy the hat online. You can also f
ind a plain green hat and add the writing. Similar to caddies at the Masters, you can add your name to the back of your romper.
Sleeping Beauty
If you are wanting to be cute but also cozy on Halloween, dress up as sleeping beauty. Just grab a pajama set and some slippers, and then find a crown. Then you are all set!
Violet
Violet is my favorite character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and she is super fun to dress up as. You just need a purple/blue tracksuit and then a blonde wig
(unless you already have blonde hair). Some added things to make it even better would be some gum and even some blue eyeshadow on the nose (since she is turning violet).
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
This is also a costume where most of the pieces you will probably be able to find in your closet! You just need a black base, I chose a black tank top and skirt. Then some black gloves, black sunglasses, and pearls obviously. Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is such an iconic character to dress up as!
Happy Halloween!
