The second largest state in the U.S., nearly 500,000 people moved out of Texas in 2023 according to U.S. Census data, with nearly 670,000 people moving in to the state. There are many different reasons people moved to Texas, here’s a look at why some Redhawks moved to the Lone Star state.

Alyssa Murphy, WTV Executive Producer
Alyssa Murphy is a Class of 2022 senior and four-year contributor to Wingspan’s Daily Update broadcast program. She is an Executive Producer for the second year in a row, having served as Producer and Staff Reporter her sophomore and freshman years. Alyssa is the current Student Body President and has held various leadership positions as Co-President of PTSA’s Student Advisors and as Cheer Captain her freshman and sophomore years. In addition to cheering for Liberty’s Varsity Cheer Squad, she also runs varsity on Liberty’s Cross Country team. She is an active member of Student Council, National Honors Society and Best Buddies. In her spare time, Alyssa is very active in National Charity League volunteering in her community and working part-time at a local restaurant.
