Post-season forecast
October 12, 2016
Fall sports have been competing since well before the school year started, and are finally closing in on the post season. Many sports on campus have their eye on a playoff spot as they finish out District 13-5A play.
For football, the team is in the middle of their district season with a 1-3 record and four games to go. Currently they are tied for fourth place in a four way tie with Frisco, Reedy, and Heritage.
“The team we play this week is our biggest obstacle right now,” senior quarterback Grant Buss said. “Next week, it will be the team we play that week. This game must be dealt with week by week, game by game, and hopefully by overcoming each obstacle, we will come out above the rest.”
With 5 games to go and a current playoff spot, volleyball nears the end of their season with a 7-3 record, also holding onto fourth place.
“I think we will go far into playoffs,” junior Katelyn Burtch said. “Everyone is dedicated and focused on doing our best and playing our best every game.”
Tennis once again is on the road to state ending district play with a 7-1 record and their goals set to advancing past regionals where the team’s winning streak ended last season.
Cross Country has been speeding through their district meets with the girls’ team having three first place finishes and two third place finishes, and the boys’ team placing second in one meet and ninth in another. With only three meets left before postseason, both teams are working hard to guarantee a spot at state once again.
“We have been pushing each other at every practice,” junior Carrie Fish said. “And just reminding each other that we all have the same goal and in order to achieve that goal of state is the keep working hard every practice.”
