The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams continue district 13-5A play Friday night as they host Heritage at the Nest.

For the girls, head coach Ross Reedy hopes to continue the performance they displayed against Indepedence Tuesday when the Redhawks rolled to a 47-18 win.

“Really just the expectation is the same regardless who we play, which is to get better,” Reedy said. “With Heritage they are not typically one of the teams at the top of the district, but they still are well coached and their kids play hard. We really just wanna get through getting everyone an opportunity to play but still play at a very high level. We really want to see the same kind of tenacity and focus that we take in all our other games.”

Meanwhile on the boy’s side, after a rough non-district start to the season, the team played perhaps its best game against Independence winning 84-46.

“We’ve been playing really well lately,” boys’ head basketball coach Danny Melton said. “We played well last weekend in the holiday tournament in Dallas. We went 2-1, I think we’ve kind of turned the corner. Obviously we played really well on Tuesday night against Independence, we beat them by 38 so I think we have kind of discovered our identity of who we are so I expect us to play really well and beat them.”
