Dancing her way to fame
February 23, 2017
Senior Crystal Wang is using social media to share her dance talent with the world.
Wang goes by the stage name C-Diamond online and covers many hip hop songs and even creates her own choreography to the melodies.
“I’ve been dancing for ten years and four years in a studio,” Wang said. “I do an assortment of styles. We do lyrical, ballet, jazz, and hip hop. My favorite style is definitely lyrical. I originally created a lot of covers online so I could create a dance archive and recording and documenting my improvement.”
She started uploading dance videos on social media in 2015 and since then, she has garnered over 67 thousand followers.
“Crystal has always had a talent for dance; she’s definitely had a huge passion for dance too,” Red Rhythm dance director Nicole Nothe said. “In my Dance 1 class, she definitely stood out as an excellent dancer, with great technique and you can tell she really enjoys art.”
In addition, she has been posting dance videos on YouTube since 2012.
She now has over six thousand subscribers and almost half a million views on YouTube.
“I just hit 68 thousand followers,” Wang said. “I like sharing my passion for dance and encouraging other people to dance. Trying different styles of choreography and finding your own self and finding ways to tell your story without words through different movements of dance is something different.”
