The window for 2017-18 schedule change requests opened Monday with students having until April 13 to request changes to courses they originally signed up for in February.

“The first step is to look at the course catalog and make sure you have the prerequisites for the class that you’re wanting to take so that you’re eligible to take that class,” counselor Staci Stokes said. “You can come down to the counseling office or use the email link that was sent home at the end of last week and input your schedule change request to the Google Doc and then your counselor takes it from there and updates it in the computer so it’s ready for next year.”

The counselors have already sat down with students to go over their course selections for next year and urge students to be cautious when making any alterations.

“The recommendation would be to just change electives because your counselor has already looked at your course request for next year and what you need to graduate so we don’t want you to make any massive changes because that could impact your graduation,” Stokes said. “Electives are generally what students are changing at this time or maybe the level of a course, like jumping down from AP.”

The only changes that can be made after the April 13 deadline are those made to programs in a schedule.

“After this window is closed, the only other changes that you will be able to make are program changes,” Stokes said. “So let’s say right now you’re not in band, but then you decide that next year you want to be in band, once you’ve spoken with the director or the coach for a sport, then we would make that sort of change to your schedule.”
