2017-18 Student Council named
April 4, 2017
Applications are in, interviews are over and the selections have been made for the 2017-18 Student Council with 35 students chosen featuring 13 rising juniors and 22 rising seniors.
“It feels really good and I was extremely surprised when I made student council,” sophomore Moyo Shobowale said. “I hope to make everybody a part of the school because I feel like we are all separated and I feel like we should all be together.”
Sophomore Madelyn Bryan is excited to find another way to be involved in life on campus.
“I really wanted to be a part of the school in more ways, and when I got the letter and it said congratulations it was a really good moment,” Bryan said. “I hope to make the school more fun and have more school spirit and get more students involved in school activities.
While the entire school is able to vote for Student Council president and vice president, there’s a different thought process behind choosing the council.
“The sponsors choose who is in StuCo based off of building a student council class that represents the student body,” Sommers said. “We have students from a wide variety of organizations and strengths in order to build a collective group that can benefit the school the most.”
