Dancing for a cause
September 22, 2017
Dancing for a cause is a local non-profit organization that has moved its way on campus. The club was established two years ago and currently has 30 plus members but is looking to gain more.
Unlike most clubs and dance organizations, dancing for a cause only requires that the members have a passion for dance and serving the community, rather than being based on skill level.
“So dancing for a cause really believes in helping the community,” club president Jimmy Qian said. “What we do to raise money is that we dance for charity organizations and then we may have a bunch of jams, dance practices and performances, and all that money usually goes towards charities.”
The club not only tries to impact the local area, but also the students lives as well.
“Dancing for a cause has become my second family, we’ve had our ups and downs but when it comes to the bottom line we’re really just a group of kids who hang out with each other,” senior Kirsten Mallari said. “That sounds cheesy but it’s really rewarding to give back to the community while being yourself in the best way you can be.”
