Walmart’s presence in Frisco is about to increase as the company adds a fourth store in the city, this one less than two miles from campus on the northwest corner of Custer and 121.

“We have been prepping fixtures, mods, cleaning, and stocking the merchandise,” store co-manager Trevor Carson said. “The construction started in 2016, but the plan was to always have it open January 24 [2018].”

With exterior construction complete, the store has already began hiring employees and training them for opening day.

Although having a Walmart close by opens up shopping options, teachers and staff hope will not be able to shop there using school funds.

Sam’s Club is an approved vendor for us but Walmart is not,” Student Council advisor Julie Anderson said. “It would be super helpful if I was approved because if we ever needed something in Stuco, it would be easy for us to go grab extra supplies.”

Despite school organizations not being able to shop there, the location of the newest Walmart in Frisco has students ready for it to finally open.

“I love Walmart and there’s not one that close to my house and they just have everything,” senior Kendall Pulaski said. “They have clothes and food and anything you could want and it’s all cheap.”
