Thursday at 4:30 p.m. is the final chance for students to submit a request to drop their PAP or AP classes for the new semester which begins Tuesday. This is the second and final chance for students to make such a change.

Generally, more students drop at the end of the first six weeks than at semester,” counselor Staci Stokes said.

For many students, the decision to drop a course comes with many questions and concerns.

“Students worry about their entire schedule changing, or not being in classes with friends anymore,” Stokes said. “A lot of the fear of dropping from PAP/AP classes also comes from the loss of the weighted GPA points.”

Stokes advises that students think about what classes they can handle when first signing up for courses to avoid dropping classes throughout the year.

“Many students here at Liberty tend to overextend themselves and take an abundance of PAP/AP classes in order to compete in the GPA race,” Stokes said. “I always encourage students to carefully consider a healthy load of advanced classes, but if a student feels that they are overwhelmed, dropping a PAP/AP class might be a good decision.”
