The Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation will host the Annual Frisco ISD Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) Research Showcase at the Ford Center at The Star on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The top students from eight FISD high schools spent the first semester curating their project, selecting mentors, and researching their topic in preparation for the showcase.

“[The showcase] is about showing how much effort and work we’ve been putting into our research,” senior Aashnika Sujit said. “We’ve spent a whole semester setting a topic that we’re really interested in, and it’s to help us get our interests out there, and also helps us make sure that we know what we’re saying and doing.”

Along with the current work they’ve done, students will also detail the work they will continue to do throughout the year.

“We’ve worked really hard on it for a really long time,” junior Tanya Shiramagond said. “ISM is a really rigorous course, and it’s great to be able to share that with everyone and show what we’ve done.”

The event is open to the public, and patrons are asked to park in the blue and silver parking garages or the surface lots.

“It’s going to be a new experience,” junior Rameen Usman said. “I’m researching oral and maxillofacial surgery, and I’m really excited about that field, because it’s like the gap between the medical and dental fields. The most challenging part has been coming up with original ideas and producing the work that you have.”
