Counselors are visiting social studies classes Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss scheduling for the 2018-19 school year.

“We actually do this in two rounds,” counselor Staci Stokes said. “The first round we are going in and reviewing graduation requirements, where the course catalog is, how to fill out the course card, kind of the basic overview information.”

The next round of counselor meetings will start the scheduling process for next year.

“In February we’ll actually meet with students in the computer lab to answer more detailed questions and input their course requests into the computer,” Stokes said.

The time spent with counselors, while necessary, comes with the cost of class time for social studies teachers.

“It can be frustrating when you lose class time,” teach Ben Manning said. “But it’s good for the students to prepare for next year and starting to plan out what you really need.”
