From taking the school’s football team the furthest they’ve ever been in playoffs, to taking the Eagles to their first Lombardi Trophy win, 2011 alumni Jay Ajayi is now a Super Bowl champion.

“It was really cool to watch last night and having a guy to root for rather than just watching it as an event,” defensive coordinator Brandon Gonzales said. “I’m just real prund of all the work he put in too, we always preached to him being hungry and humble and I think it paid off.”

With Jay’s family in the stands, the win was that much more fun to watch.

“The atmosphere of the stadium was crazy,” sister Sarah Ajayi said. “There were a lot of Eagle fans, so whenever there was a big play the stadium would roar with chants. I was so glad that we got to watch my brother play at such a big game and it was a very surreal and one in a lifetime experience that I am grateful to have been apart of.”

Against the Patriots, Ajayi carried the ball nine times for 57 yards with an average of 6.3 yards per carry.

“I am extremely proud of my brother and all the adversary he had fought through to get to where he is,” Sarah said. “I’m just so happy that all his hard work paid off in the biggest way and now he is a champion.”
