High school classes but community college feel

The Career and Technical Education is a center specific to Frisco ISD high schools, where students receive the opportunity to take courses that are more directed towards the career path that they may be interested in.
Although this center is considered to be apart of Frisco ISD and treated as though it’s a normal high school, there are still considerable differences between the CTE center and what is thought to be a typical high school.
“There are many differences, but there are also many things that stay the same,” CTE Center Principal Dianna Manuel said via email. “The feel of the CTE Center is more like a community college with students coming and going all day long. That in itself presents some challenges that many high school administrators may never deal with.”
For first year CTE Center teacher Stacey Scott, it’s a much different experience than what is found at most high schools.
“Our campus is very unconventional compared to the other campuses,” Stacey Scott said. “We don’t have to worry about a lot of the organizations and sports which makes it a little sad but it’s great to have a little less stress cause teachers already have enough responsibility as it is.”
Although it doesn’t have many of the things Frisco’s nine high schools have, staff member Kimberly Anderson enjoys being able to see some students embark on their future career.
“The CTE Center is very different because it’s more like a mini college kids are coming and going all day so you know you are always seeing a different group of kids,” Kimberly Anderson said. “And obviously we don’t have the mascot and the sports teams here so that is a pretty big difference. My favorite part here is seeing my students in internships, working in the field and pursuing their career path.”
