Girls’ soccer is embarking on the stretch run for the playoffs as the Redhawks are tied for third place with just four games left in District 13-5A play. Friday night at 5:30 p.m., the team takes on Wakeland, at Toyota Stadium with the team ready to take another step towards securing a spot in playoffs.

“We’ve definitely need to be in the tier of the winning position to maintain playoff position that we are currently in so to me every game is crucial,” head soccer coach Elizabeth Mokler said. “You have to be in the top four.”

Freshman Ally White leads the team with eight goals.

“It feels good,” White said. “I really couldn’t do it without my other teammates though just getting the ball out from the defense and the mid-field and up to me. That’s my job as a forward.”

Undefeated in district play, Wakeland is the team to beat.

“I think we are working as a team pretty well,” freshman Sydney Andros said. “We are working really hard in practice. I know that we are just trying to look at what are weakest things and trying improve them. We are not as nervous to play because we have everything to gain and they have everything to lose being in the top spot.”
