Track and Field traveled to UT Arlington Friday and Saturday to compete in the Region 2-5A meet. As a team, the girls placed 5th at the meet. Junior Nissi Kabongo took first place in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet 6 inches. Senior Carrie Fish got second in the 1600m with a personal record of 4:59.10, As well as another second place performance in the 3200m with a time of 10:49.63. Also tallying points for the team was junior Sanye Ford who finished 5th in the long jump.
On the boys side, the 4×400 relay team placed 9th, and junior Josh Burtch placed 9th in discus. The state track meet will take place May 11-12, and will feature Kabongo and Fish.
Baseball wrapped up its season on Friday, taking on Reedy. Junior Tim Wynia led the way with 9 strikeouts, but it wasn’t enough as the Redhawks fell to the Lions, 7-0, leaving the team to finish in 6th place in District 13-5A.
