The Academic Decathlon team competed in the 2015 Rockwall invitational Saturday against more than 40 teams in seven of ten academic categories, excluding Essay, Speech, and Interview.

The AcDec team took 11th place overall with the top ten schools being larger schools. Individual competitors found success such as junior Deepti Aravapalli who captured first in Science, senior Abel Sen who captured first in Mathematics and many other top 10 placers.

“The Rockwall Invitational is always a good chance for the Liberty AcDec team to compete against the best in the state in 5A and 6A division, and the state champion team from Arizona was in attendance,” AcDec coach Gary Mumford said. “All in all, a very good showing for a team with only three returning members from last year’s team that finished third in the state.”
