Play the Ace is a pop punk band consisting of 3 students on campus.

Formed in late fall of 2015, the girls immediately bonded over their shared love for music.

Their music combines classic pop punk sounds with a youthful, new perspective.

“We originally started like kind of just like to mess around and have fun like we didn’t really take it seriously,” junior Dena Asaad said. “But then we got some we gained some following on social media and we thought like hey, maybe we can actually do something with this. So we play shows and in the future we plan to play even more shows and release more music, but I don’t necessarily think that it’s sense don’t like this is what we’re gonna do for the future. But if it takes us somewhere, why not.”

In late 2017 Play the Ace released their debut EP called “All My Friends Are Ghosts”

“Dena and Iris writes most of the music usually one of them comes up with like the lyrics and then we write music to back it like something that matches like that,” junior Molly Lammes said. “I usually don’t right I’m not very good. So I think I wrote one song last EP, but usually don’t do much.”

With concerts all over Frisco the band hopes to grow a following in the future.

“Okay so later this year we’re planning on putting out another EP, we’re going to go into the studio and then we also have like a lot of shows,” junior Iris Chang said. “So that’s all.”

Play the Ace’s next show will be at Killer Tacos in Denton on Friday.
