Three games into the season, football has yet to play a game without the rain. Hoping for a brighter season, football will take on Independence on Friday.

Football has been under the weather with the start of the season bringing nothing but rain and lightning delays. However, this is out of the ordinary with September showers causing more than four times the normal amount of rain for September breaking an 86 year old record in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

For three consecutive weeks, football has encountered wet weather, which is beginning to take its toll.

“The only negative effects it has brought us is that we can’t use the pass game as much,” junior Anthony Ortiz said. “The ball is too slippery to pass and that has delayed our games.”

Students have also been enduring the unexpected rain, and are hopeful for a forecast more fit for the team on Friday against Independence.

“I think that the turnouts for games haven’t been as good so far this year,” sophomore Ellie Dennen said. “No one really wants to stand in the rain or wait around until the game starts.”
