Undefeated for the past nine matches, the Redhawks volleyball team added a tenth victory to their District 9-5A record on Friday against Reedy, securing first place and bumping the Lions down to second.

While winning the first set 25-17, the Lions tied the match up with a close 26-28 in the second game. But it wasn’t enough, as the Redhawks pulled ahead, winning the last two sets (27-25, 25-16) for a 3-1 final.

“Friday night’s game was really intense and fast pace but I feel like we were in control for the majority of the game,” senior Ashley Pennington said via text. “This game was really anticipated because both of us knew it was going to be a very competitive match, so I was really proud of everyone keeping their composure and working so hard throughout all four sets.”

Achieving a 10-1 record has not come easily, as Pennington believes the team’s success has occured due to their work ethic and drive to succeed.

“I think what has made us so successful so far is that we are all such hard workers,” Pennington said via text. “It’s the coolest thing ever to be in an environment where everyone is working so hard for each other and to accomplish our goals.”
