Librarypalooza, offering STEM activities, meet and greets with famous authors, a hands-on experience in the Perot Museum TECH truck, and much more is all part of Saturday’s first ever event at Centennial High School from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

“I think that it’s a good way for students to interact with things that have to do with the library in a different way than actually being in the library,” campus librarian Chelsea Hamilton said. “It’s much more than just books, there’s so many different things that you can learn across all spectrums and it’s good to interact and see how the library works with kids all through their ages.”

All students in Frisco ISD are welcome to attend the event which will also feature authors and illustrators in attendance including Drew Daywalt, AG Ford, and Jennifer Ziegler.

“You can meet and have books signed by authors,” Hamilton said. “The one that I’m most excited about is the author who wrote the day the crayons quit. My kids love that book, so we’re going to go and they are going to get their book signed by him.”

This event not only offers events regarding books, but students interested in math and science fields can be entertained as well.

“You can make all kinds of things,” Hamilton said. “I know they have some kind of robotics and coding things happening, so you can create a bunch of stuff. They have lots of hands-on experiences for all levels to do something fun.”

Frisco ISD is eager to start the annual tradition of Librarypalooza and share all it has to offer for students and their families.

“We are excited to bring the first ever Librarypalooza to the Frisco ISD community,” FISD Coordinator of Library and Media Services, Stacey Cameron, said in a Frisco ISD release. “We want to share all the amazing things our libraries have to offer with students and their families.”

Librarypalooza is designed to be a great opportunity for students to try new things and possibly discover new passions.

“It’s a good way to interact with your community and learn stuff,” Hamilton said. “You might play with some piece of new technology that you decide it’s what you really want to do and you think it’s cool. You might want to play with it some more and learn some more and then you can be a multi-millionaire and you’ve learned it at a Librarypalooza.”
