For the first time in school history, seniors have the chance to get together for a preview of prom during Wednesday’s prom hype party during advisory in the student parking lot.

“Basically, part of the package for prom, was that the DJ would be able to come and get kids excited about it,” assistant principal Stacey Whaling said. “Obviously prom is in about two weeks and so this is just to get people thinking about it, excited about it, and just let them know what fun is going to be happening in a couple weeks. It’s just to get kids excited about prom, there’s no agenda. It’s just fun.”

With snacks provided by the PTA and music provided by the DJ, the hype party is designed to be a fun way for students to get a glimpse of what the dance will be like.

“It’s kind of like what we did for homecoming,” Student Council member, junior, Yael Even said. “Just to give a quick look of what prom would be like, and just get students excited and go to prom.”

Beyond giving students a sneak peek into what will happen at prom, the hype party also allows them to take a short break in between classes.

“It’s a chance to get outside and that’ll be nice,” Whaling said. “It’s a chance to hang out with their friends listen to good music and just chill out before they either go to their next class or they have to leave campus.”

The hype party also provides a setting for all the seniors to gather together before their final high school dance.

“I think it’s going to be awesome for all the seniors to get together and it’s like our last hoorah,” senior Moyo Shobowale said. “I’m most looking forward to the music and the community and how it’s going to advertise how exciting prom is going to be for us.”

On top of all the activities that will be taking place, seniors will be sent off with gifts as part of their prom package.

“If you bought a ticket, your name will already be on the list, and we’ll give you what your what your gift is,” Whaling said. “If you haven’t yet, then there’ll be another another opportunity to collect it.”
