Depot Cafe provides a taste of southern heaven
Review: Diner serves tasty southern comfort food
December 15, 2015
Sharing space with a gas station, the Depot Cafe serves southern comfort food that people desire, but don’t have the time to make themselves.
In a southern, cozy atmosphere in downtown Frisco on Main Street, the cafe serves hearty meals which leave customers fulfilled long after they indulged in the food.
The cafe gives off a very warm, friendly atmosphere and the staff is very sweet. The food servings are large and the food is made under 10 minutes.
The fried catfish platter is a simple meal that many enjoy and is very memorable with it’s crunch while it is also marinated giving it a savory taste. The chicken fried steak is also also very large and different from the chicken fried steak most people have had. The chicken was crispy and drenched in gravy, but didn’t hide the flavor of the chicken underneath.
The side mashed potatoes were not very good, they were bland and nothing like grandma’s. The french fries and green beans are very typical and did not stand out to the kind diners can get at home or at a fast food place. The garden salad was like many others, but it was filling and the ranch was creamy and savory.
If there’s room left for dessert, Depot Cafe has plenty of options depending on the day. The red velvet cake is creamy with the ideal icing to make for the best dessert they serve.
Perhaps the best thing about Depot Cafe is large serving at a price that won’t break the budget as most prices range from $3 to $15.
The Depot Cafe is perfect for sitting down with family and friends for a good time and a taste of southern heaven, but check the time before you go as its hours aren’t typical.
